Re Heads Please How to Get Skateboard – Unlock Route, Shop & Controls
Get the skateboard by finishing the NPC's spray-can and board-marker quests by the skate shop, then ride with Q/LT and boost with R/LB — includes controls, boost behavior, and fixes if riding stays locked.
You unlock the skateboard by completing a questline, not by buying it. Find the quest NPC standing next to the skateboard shop, complete her first quest (finding the spray cans around the map), then finish her follow-up quest to find all the board markers around the map. Once both collecting quests are done, the skateboard becomes usable. Until the spray-can quest is finished first, riding stays locked — that quest order is the main prerequisite that blocks access.
Skateboard shop location
The skateboard shop is one of the named locations on the main map, described alongside the fountain (coin gambling) and the accessories shop. The quest NPC who gives the spray-can and board-marker quests stands right beside it, so the shop area is where you both start the unlock quests and interact with the skateboard vendor. Although the location is called a shop, the unlock route is the questline — no purchase is involved in getting the board.
Ride and boost controls
| Action | Keyboard | Controller |
|---|---|---|
| Ride skateboard | Q | LT |
| Skateboard boost | R | LB |
On mobile, riding and boosting are handled by on-screen buttons corresponding to the same actions.
Boost behavior and tricks
Press R (or LB on controller) while riding to boost the skateboard and go pretty fast — this is the useful part of the kit for getting around. Pressing boost while midair performs a small trick instead, which has no gameplay purpose and is just for fun.
Best traversal uses
- Explore the map faster than walking, which helps with collectible quests like finding sprays and markers.
- Use the boost (R / LB) whenever traveling between map locations such as the fountain, enchanting area, accessories shop, and skateboard shop.
- Treat the skateboard as your main early-game travel tool; deeper destinations like the Ruined Station are end-game content beyond beginner traversal.
If the skateboard doesn't work
The most likely blocker is the quest prerequisite: complete the spray-can quest first, then the board-marker quest, before riding is enabled. Check your quest tracker to confirm both collecting quests show as done. The game is in beta, so bugs affecting access should be reported in-game; joining the official group also grants perks like auto flip while you finish the quests. Since the game updates frequently, recheck unlock conditions and controls after movement updates if anything behaves differently. For the complete input list, see the full controls guide.
